happens to everyone, just normal :/
Why is this happening?
Not rly it's pretty normal to drop after a peak @ChessmasteryOfficial actually the only way for me to gain it back is just grind it doesn't work for everyone but it works for me

@ChanMan4, most everyone is right and I'll add one (at least in my case) ... cockiness. Every time I get a Brilliant or lack mistakes or blunders, I then lose the next several in a row.
"Anger//laziness loop" really hit home with me. I'm low level and new here so what do I know but in coding, frustration is an absorption killer; maybe that's exacerbating your losses. I'm pleased to see support from most respondents here and hope you can regain the joy of the game itself.
Since I started playing rated again, Ive been doing super good until the last two days. First, yesterday I played like 20 3 minute blitz games and lost a lot of them. And then today I played 3 rapid games and lost all of them, with me playing as bad as 56 accuracy in one of them. I feel super frustrated as I climbed to 1300 super easily but now I'm doing horrible. Why is this, has this happened to u were u got to ur peak sand then started losing a bunch? What should I do about this? I fee super frustrated with chess.
We all have bad days, what matters is how we respond.
There's also the thing is that if you hit a peak your probably not going to stay here unless you improve 200 + points over night you need to hit it more and more frequently lyour peak isn't always the skill level where your at you have to actually be able to stay there. most of the time it will go back down while occasionally if you break a barrier you can improve 100+ points.

By the way, an old Chinese proverb (I remind myself in life) says, "if your problem has a solution, why get angry? If it does not, why get angry?" It helps me level out!

Slumps and big rating drops happen to just about everyone, so don’t sweat it.
Last time I had a major slump I stopped playing standard chess and played several different variants for a week or two. When I went back to standard I started playing much better … probably because I was able to take a break from chess, while still playing “chess."

Personally sleep has the biggest effect. I lost 100 rating points after barely sleeping for a few days, and nearly 400 rating points on the puzzles! 🤯
It all comes back though when my sleep returns to normal.

is quitting chess for a week a good solution and will it make me rusty also is 15+10 better than 10 minute?

why didn’t this happen to me? i feel like i missed all the fun.
whaddya mean fun
