I like RN9's illusion that FIDE and Elo ratings are different.
I glad to know they are the same, that is what I thought. Elo is the gradign system used by FIDE

They aren't really the same. As you point out, Elo is the system used by FIDE. So all FIDE ratings are Elo ratings. But you can have an Elo rating that isn't a FIDE rating.
i dont like the invention rating because i think every one might acually play better than their rating

No, that is not true. He is probably referring to Anand, but he is not rated that high.
Ratings don't mean anything. Last year, I went to a local tournament and my rating was 890, even though my playing strengh is more around 1500-1600. Result: everyone thaught they had an easy game against me and I ended up winning all my games.
