You've said little so far, at201356, so I'll get the conversation started. Hikaru is an amazing speed chess player. His chess games are instructive & when he reviews them he does a nice job of explaining things. Hikaru will play in the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament which is a great accomplishment. He's the kind of player that if I had to play against, I'd need the longest time control possible, for him to be drunk & I'd probably soil myself from nervous anxiety.
Watching Hikaru live-stream blitz and bullet is a real treat. In the early 2000s, I used to watch him whenever he came onto ICC (his username back then was “Smallville”). He would play a few games of blitz or bullet, dominate everyone, then abruptly log off.
Now we have the privilege of being able to see him live stream almost constantly. And we can hear his actual thought process as he finds his moves. It’s very cool.
Plus, I know his fans everywhere are waiting for the day that he finally wins a classical world championship. This year might be his final shot at it, before he hangs up his gloves for good.
