Chess was brought here by the Persians. It originated from an Indian game called Chaturanga (pronounced shaturainga). The word sha meant king and mat meant king. So sha mat became checkmate because the goal was to kill the king. Chess is almost 2000 years old.
I made a typo. The work mat meant kill.
I have never heard that theory before. I don’t think it is likely.
Also what did you mean by very good? Did you mean that you already knew this stuff and you were saying I was correct or did you mean that you found the information interesting.
What is Chinese chess? I have played Chinese checkers before.
