History of Stalemate rule

The stalemate rule can be maddening, but also there are times when, despite being in a losing position, I've still enjoyed fighting on with the hope of at least getting a stalemate. Especially if my opponent is getting short on time. It doesn't often work, but maybe 15% of the time, and cartainly with a try.

However, as a spectator it can be a bit frustrating when games (at top level) are a bit draw-ish. The current world championship between Gukesh and Ding Liren has had 8 draws from 10 games. Some of these draws were exciting with lots of back and forth, but not all of them. Today's game (#10) was a bit lacklustre imo. But I wouldn't propose changing the stalemate rule, but I like the idea of stalemate not counting as an equal draw, but instead splitting the points 0.75/0.25
