Hit a slump

Hello all, as of late i feel I've hit a bit of a slump playing chess.

I can't get any better and I don't seem to be playing well either.

Anyone exeperiened anything like this?

I think I did at some point this spring - at least I was very tired of playing and I got too upset about making mistakes. I took a break for one month, then came back to the game, and won 23 games in a row (and the streak breaker was a tie against a higher-rated player).

Distancing yourself from the game for a while lets your subconscious work on it in peace, or so I hear. You get fresh new ideas and you aren't encumbered by ghosts of games past. Why not try it?

Yes my friend, I have had a slump many a time.

I took a break from the game, and forgot everything I had learned.

I played lots of games and lost some of them. (Usually through my own blunders). That was disheartening. Some I won though, which was nice.

Try Tactics trainer for a while. Thats what I am doing, I am not very good at it, but I am getting better. It's a nice temporary solution.

There is no right or wrong solution, whatever you decide. Do what is right for you.
