From the title

HOU YIFAN WASNT RIGHT, She should apologize

this is wrong.

Hou is correct and the organizer should improve their pairing system.

How should organizers improve pairing systems?

Should they make the machine that creates the pairing do not pair up Yifan with women because Yifan has some weird inferiority complex and wants to play with men instead of women, even if they have the same rating?

As for cnj, I'm inclined to disagree. Most (not all) who believe it's a conspiracy are idiots, and people who don't understand basic probability. Maybe they didn't go to school because that's how the government put signals into your brain?

HEEEEELLLLL YEAH!!!!
Funniest part is that he blocked me from his thread when I explained him the concept of probability by giving him the example of how the odds of one of the millions of  sperm found in semen hitting the ovum are 1 in 300 million, yet one hits it... He also called me misogynist for using that example.

It was not ludicrous. There was indeed something wrong in the pairing.

Feel free to show what the pairings were supposed to be using the FIDE regulations.

Round 1 ----- MVL

Round 2 ----- Caruana

Round 3 ---- Topalov

Round 4 ---- Anton

Round 5 ----- Wen Ju

Round 6 ---- Myzchuk 1

Round 7 ----- Nakamura

Round 8 ---- Stefanova

Round 9 ---- Adams

Round 10 --- Short

And she will probably still say the pairings were rigged because he got paired with 2 women.

Oh btw, she would have end up the tournament with 0/10 if those pairings happened.

Cnj is probably a 12 year old looking for an online girlfriend that thinks blindly defending a woman will get him bluejars as his gf.

BronsteinPawn

I dont blame him tho, I would do the same, bluejars looks 130% legit and has nice eyes.

He is just doing what nature tells him to do.

@SilentKnighte5

The pairing of that tournament was run by swiss manager as it is reported here.

http://www.chess-results.com/tnr257693.aspx?lan=1&art=2&rd=1&wi=821

This swiss manager is one of the tournament managers that is endorsed by FIDE.

https://www.fide.com/FIDE/handbook/C04Annex3_EPLIST.pdf

Once the tournament is completed, this swiss manager will generate a report for the FIDE called tournament report file.

The specifications of tournament file is contained here.

https://www.fide.com/FIDE/handbook/C04Annex2_TRF16.pdf

Swiss manager software is using a pairing engine called javafo.

http://www.rrweb.org/javafo/aum/JaVaFo2_AUM.htm

And this javafo is also capable of checking the pairing of the actual tournament and the pairing before the results of every round. In other words javafo can check if there are anomalies in the pairing in the actual tournament.

Here is the log of the pairing checker for round 1.

Hou is player 22, she should have played player 148, but she was paired to player 143. Practically the organizer did not follow the first round pairing. They may have a reason of course. Further pairing checks in other rounds may reveal that there are other rounds that are also not according the javafo pairing engine.

I am ony showing round 1 report of the checker.

wow. thats a lot of analysis.

it was previously reported that pairing were adjusted to avoid an isreal-iran match-up.

do you show that.

and in this sea of data, whats the big picture?  how many of pairings (in your analysis) align with what happened at gibralter?

thegreat_patzer

ok, I'm reading more closely.

this is just the first round.  you will spend, I think , ALOT of time to conduct this analysis.

BronsteinPawn

No he wont, I already reported to my chum Stalin he is sharing delicate information so he will soon dissapear.

The analysis is done by javafo.

BronsteinPawn

He got destroyed by Adams. He is no challenge to his male counterparts.

She hung a basic endgame against Magnus.

I think the TDs just did a favor to Caruana and the other bosses of the field.

She lost against Ju and that was it.  She is still the highest rated female player, so I'd hardly say she is "weak".  In fact, going 5-1-2 against women GMs and IMs (including both Myzchuks) is far from weak.

Oh no, she MUST be made to appear weak. she's a woman. My self-esteem DEPENDS ON IT.

Lol, this cnj dude is funny.

You said you knew what sarcasm/jokes were, I think you just wanted to hide your stupidity.

Why are you not posting this stuff in your thread or something?

BronsteinPawn

Look at this game, then look back at me and tell me without laughing that she isnt weak.

thegreat_patzer

cause you would do MUCH better against the Best Chessplayer in the ENTIRE world!?

thats kind of braggy of you, even for a teletubby!

.... BTW. there's not even sidelines in this game.  if you don't even have non-engine,reasonable, alternate suggestions at places in her game- how's a patzer like myself spose to know that she is mockingly weak?

BronsteinPawn

@greatlordpatzer

I remember watching that game a long time ago and seeing the blunder, she hung a drawn endgame.

Yifan had to play 45...a5

The tournament was not done by Vega, it was manage by swiss manager that is only my point.

dont bother, this guy just doesnt understand how pairings work. Ive been trying to get him to understand that man or woman, she still would be playing someone with a lower rating for most of these games....not getting through

Oh really?... Does getting "A"s in college level statistics courses count??... How about four semesters of higher math, everything from differential calculus to differential equations (in which I did NOT get an "A" happy.png ).

Shooting the messenger is the sign of a weak mind.

P.S. I have an idea. Why don't you explain to me "how pairings work", 'cause I'd sure like to know. Despite my knee-jerk detractors, I think you will find me quite open minded, willing to learn, and most remarkably, humble and glad to admit error... Just trying to get to the truth. Let's see the computer "code".
