How am I doing?

Hello! I’m a beginner. I’ve primarily been playing against bots. I noticed that I usually play better, when I play against bots with higher ratings. If I win a game with only 60 percent accuracy, is that really a “win?” I won against the 1200 bot, but I had several blunders, misses and inaccuracies. I won five games in a row, against the 800 bot, but my accuracy rate was bad, except one game that I had 84 percent accuracy.

Even if you win with one percent of accuracy, it will be concidered a win.

Your doing good in my opinion. Win or lose, you at least have to be proud of yourself. Like look, at least you won a game with several ups and downs. And I cannot believe a beginner won against a 1200 bot! I think you’re having a great start as a beginner, in my opinion. If you want to get better at chess, check out the Lessons on Chess.com.

Thanks, both of your responses. I’ve actually only been playing, obsessively, on Chess.com. I’ve taken and retaken the lessons, done puzzles, and have just started watching Gotham’s (think that’s his name) videos. Unfortunately, I’ve started late in life, so my memory isn’t great. I can’t think ahead more than two or three moves ahead. Can you recommend a good book, that’s easy to understand? Thanks!
