Hi, please refer to my forum topic in general discussion.  It has happened several times now, not often, but when it dies you notice it. Opponent is loosing and just before the end, the game freezes up and you can not enter your move, yet your clock keeps ticking. Any explanations and please try and stiop this somehow in your software proramme.

I'm not sure if you mean this; it's happened to me several times. You are winning the game, when it's your turn to move the connection is broken and can't be reloaded. You run out of time and lose the game, plus you get a message that you may have your account restricted for violating the fairplay policy. It's so infuriating that I have gone mainly to correspondence games.

Until now I've thought that it must be the crummy internet service that we have in our third-world university housing (China), but now I'm wondering if it may be some tampering from the opposing side as you suggest. I don't know how they do it if that is indeed the case, but I would also like to know. As I recall, it usually happens with younger opponents from a particular region of the world. They also tend to walk away from the game with the clock running and and a ton of time left if they are losing, instead of simply resigning. So you sit there for an hour waiting for them to move.

It's irritating and makes me wonder what motivates them to such behaviour. I sympathize and will watch this forum to see if anyone can provide an answer.

I happened again now. You are winning and have a serious advantage, where you and your opponent knows you will win, you want to promote a pawn or make some final drastic move to close the curtain and, surprise, the game freezes up and you can not make any move, but your clock is ticking. This has never happened when I am loosing. Somehow, there are computer fundis on this site who know how to cheat the system, for what I do not know ??? They know they lost the game, why cheat and win ??? Will this let you sleep better ?

it has happened to me. I ask the managers to solve this problem and make chess.com a fair medium to enjoy our time again.

The opponent CANNOT interfere with your internet connection.

Your chess.com client (whether on PC or mobile app) does not connect to the opponent's client. Each one connects seperately to the chess.com server. Your IP information is not passed to the opponent, so he cannot affect your connection.

It seems to me that someone on the site, could be using some sort of vodo black magic stuff , to ensure the victim of this evil practice, applies for a membership

This still happens. I video’d the screen for the entire time and emailed support with the video. I have a 1gb connection that is perfect for all services, but every once in a while when way ahead, it freezes up until I am almost out of time and then amazingly comes back.
