Beginner did this to me

Mainly it’s because chess.com “beginners” are often more capable then an actual chess beginner. Only those dedicated to chess play, and fools/scholars mates are very common in lower level games. Plus, computers aren’t that stupid.

I can't remember where I heard this - I think it was it was Gotham chess during his stream of consciousness rambling but 700 nowadays is like 1200 10 years ago... Quite suprising given the ever more stupid manner in which mainstream society operates what with social media etc.

It's the very first thing people are taught when they first learn chess.
