I think that the quality of chess is rather low and decidedly boring because it is between two under 1000 players.
How come no one had the decency to comment on this game?

They weren't asking for comments. They just felt like posting it.
Now, if it was in Game Analysis, that would be another matter entirely...

I swear there was once a 'views' counter in these forums. Ah well.
They STILL could have given an opinion.

Aha, thanks TadDude.
I'm not sure what opinion there is to give on that game, Woodshover. Black walked into an early fork and just went downhill from there...

Cause I couldn't comment on just a move, I'd have to comment on general strategy, which takes quite a long time to type out.

You should do it, and give him some pointers. If he gets to be WC someday, he might say he owes it all to you.

It's not 'indecent' if one doesn't comment. But it is singular for one to question other's "decency" in not commenting.

If you post a game in Game Analysis section, a lot of people will visit and post their wise comments.
When you post a game in Game Showcase section, it implies that you are asking for praises, not criticism. When games are of very poor quality in Game Showcase, people generally quit after viewing a few moves, and avoids the unpleasant task of giving adverse comments.
However, it is understood that Live chess does not give people time to think deeply.
Overall, it was an exciting game, but better to keep quiet about quality. From the 5th move it became apparent neither player has any idea of the Exchange Variation of the Ruy Lopez(white captured the e-pawn which he shouldn't, black did not even know how to win the pawn back); one-move mate (26.Re8#), hanging pieces(12.Nc3?, 25.Rf4? missed for several moves,), forks (25.Nh6+) were missed repeatedly. Finally black's blunder on the 43rd move (he could have saved the game by 43.Ne6).
Is this the "comments" you were looking for, or a pat on the back "well-played" (which was not).
I don't know what comments the boy was looking for, but poor quality is par for the course when you are learning. People don't start out at the master level.

People should not start posting in the Game Showcase section when one is learning - Game Analysis is the section for them. Trying to boast and seeking praises at the beginner's phase is not conducive to making any progress.
I think he's probably nine or ten, so encouragement might help some, as well.

LF, you said everything, man. While encouragement is healthy and necessary, fake encouragement for a poor-quality game is actually detrimental.

Same age as you?
very good point which I missed (age not mentioned, but you are right).
yes, my comments were uncalled for - I was simply infuriated by the phrase "How come no one had the decency to comment"
How were you to know that he was nine, and woodshover is ten?
