The queen pawn and rook were in that position or possibly all moved to the left a square.

 

the thing is I was playing up till about 2.15 pm and then went out to the shop and the played again after 3.00 sometime...I think it was the previous session?

That’s why I looked to see if the move was possible...just learnt today about the en passant move

 

like I say the one where it happened with lots of pieces seemed dodgy but was prolly possible but if he played for it, it was very clever

I guess you're talking about this game:

On move 50 the pawn queens because there was rook it could capture next to the rook that was blocking it from queening.

The einari. That’s not the image from my game...it was very very similar, amount of pieces and everything but his queen was at A6

 

and yes I moved my rook directly under his pawn to stop it, is that not allowed?

Hi Ariana, are you saying you are not allowed to block pieces!

Bilbo, my barefoot friend, the move you describe in which his black pawn moves from g2 to f1 without capturing a piece on f1 is both illegal and impossible, and I’ll just come out and say it, it didn’t happen. Maybe you misremember the position. It has nothing to do with en passant. Yes, your rook on g1 can block his pawn on g2 for eternity. The only legal moves for his pawn on g2 while your rook remains in place on g1 is to capture a piece on f1 or h1. The server will not allow illegal moves and the likelihood that this is a software bug vs your mistaken recollection is infinitesimally small. My advice is to spend no further time trying to find this move, make sure you solidly understand all the rules and play on.

Here is what happened:


The opponent pawn passed your rook by capturing the rook that was diagonally in front of it. Because that's how pawns capture pieces. Your one rook was blocking the pawn just nicely, but by placing another rook next to it, you allowed the pawn a free pass to queening.

Taskinen and shock me....there was nothing there for the pawn to take!

thats why I questioned it and yes I thought it was impossible? If something was there I would have moved, I’m not that new to chess, a novice but not completely new

I am saying that while you can go back through your games and that if this actually occurred it would be there, but really, it’s a waste of time because it did not. You have misremembered the position. Forget about it, make sure you know all the rules and move on.

I just payed for membership after realising I could go back through the games and I’ve found the game it was against reddynamite!

•  Here is shot 2 moves before that position but I specifically Remember putting my castle there as it was the only one? And I tried to block it and work on the pawns. Shot 2 is at the top for some Reason?

i stay in the screen shot 1 position for 5 moves, then he takes me on the sixth...I don’t understand how I could have done that?
