This was a Crazyhouse game. This is a chess variant, where you can place the pieces you've taken.
My opponent in the following game was checkmated

He had NO PIECES to protect his King with. His partner played 2 moves during this time and then he got a piece to block the move.
Since when can you wait for pieces and stall till you get a piece to block a checkmate?
