how do i defend against aggressive players

I played a person and at one time I was even up a queen. However, I still lost the game because hr played too aggressively.
Youre losing game because youre a beginner, and commit the usual beginner mistakes:
You dont follow opening principles.
Youre hanging pieces.
Youre missing simple tactics.
Being "agressive" has nothing to so with it.
The best way to confront an aggressive player is by playing strategic and solid openings.....

He could've sacrificed that queen for something as instant as a mate in 1 or a rapid, overwhelming assault of which he/she not only gets his/her queen back, but eliminates your other pieces too. This is especially if you don't follow the opening principles and whatnot.
