How do I get better at chess?

I really want to get better at chess. I can't really play well, so can you guys give tricks or tips to help?

Some tips: get a good book and really study it, a rather inexpensive way to improve.

Get a chess coach; more expensive, but they can identify your weaknesses and give you more personalized instruction.

Playing longer time controls can help you to be more thoughtful and eliminate dumb mistakes.

YouTube videos can also help, but personally, I suggest you don't hop on the opening bandwagon...

Well, as a general opening principle.

Most important is to play and to learn from your mistakes.
Play 15|10 time control and use all the time before move 30 and finish on increment.
Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.

I hope it will be helpful to you. Just bear in mind that it will take some time and effort. In any case, good luck.
