In live chess there is a drop down menu with a time in it (above the min and max rating options). Select custom and then set minutes to 60.
How do I set up an hour long live game?
When you are in live, go to the "new game" tab on the right so that it is open. There is a drop down box to select time limit. Choose "custom." In there you should be able to set an hour time limit. I guess the hardest part is getting someone to accept the time limit. Might be best if you organise it with a friend before hand?
EDIT: Got ninja'd :)
okay i tried that I put 50 mins in the time box and am awaiting somebody to accept. What is the bonus box for? it;s set to one at the moment?
Bonus time is how many seconds are added after each move. It lets a normal game be played, but guards againts someone losing on time in a winning position. For long games it's usually between 5 and 30 seconds.
Also some players prefer it in speed games because again it stops someone from losing on time if they're crushing the other guy on the board. For speed games people usually set it between 1 and 5 seconds.
Of course there are many games, long and short, that don't use it at all. Up to your preference.
