How do I stop caring about my ratings?

I'm around 2100 in every time control, but when I fall below that on tilt it just feels terrible. It feels good when I hit a peak, but after every peak you are eventually going to lose and when that happens, I just hate it. I don't understand why I care so much about a stupid number related to a stupid game, and I don't understand how to stop caring.

I’ve found the easiest way is to only play chess with friends for a while. Where the losses and the points don’t matter. The purpose of this game is just that. A game. The best way to play the game is with your friends. Once you enjoy playing again, then you can go back to playing for rating

Focus on the reward side of things, play games to get achievements, play games only to get trophies
