If I'm gonna own all the white squares as a strategy , how would I go about doing that?

Bishops of opposite color endgame. You have the light square bishop, and all your pawns are on light squares. All their pawns are stuck on dark squares.

Well, that's almost all of them anyway, there will still be some light squares around the enemy king Laughing

But more seriously, it's part strategy and part opportunity. You can't simply decide you're going to do anything as a strategy, the opportunity for it has to be present in the position. When talking about light square weakness usually you dominate squares in a smaller area like the 4x4 area around their king.

You'll notice it's possible when they have few pieces and pawns that can influence light squares in an area, and you have 2 or 3 more than whatever they have that can go into that area. So if you're working towards creating this situation, you'd trade off their pieces and trade or displace their pawns that control light squares.
