How do people stay

Before I continue with this post- I'm aware that some people just learn faster than others and that my progress may be considered slow to some, which is absolutely fine to me.  However, there's always some anomalies when it comes to growth weither it's superb or subpar, despite this I don't understand how some people stay under 1000 for so long.

 Almost every game below the 1000 elo marker contains quite a few blunders, missed tactics, and positional mistakes of which wouldn't occur if even with a very basic understanding of tactical play, and positional play.

I'm not downplaying these players on purpose; I'm simply looking for an answer so if you have one please let me know.

I’m only just back to 1000. Ultimately I’m just not that good. I blunder and usually I see it straight away after I move, otherwise my opponent is just playing on a different level. Aside from those games where everything has gone to hell, my accuracy might be somewhere in the mid 70s. There are days where it puts me in the Mid 80s and that’s probably 1200-1500 level. But consistency is something and probably most sub 1000s lack making that 800-1000 brutal for players trying to progress. Still, getting near to the 1000 mark is still an achievement for most as it puts you in the top 20% and so long as people are having fun and still learning… does it really matter?

Not everybody plays the game seriously.

For some, it's just a social thing.

Some of us just can't play chess happy

Interesting point blueemu, i did not think yet some players can consider chess just some “social thing” but may be it is true. And if it is , it is one of the best ones (social things)

Honestly aren’t we all just 1000s, some of us with more experiences than the rest

Seriously though I blundered my queen the other day ;-;

I am just taking up live chess games recently after many years away from the game during my working career. I'm getting well up in years and don't always concentrate as well as I used to. My play can vary wildly from day to day. I need more time to consider my moves now, and when I started rapid play with time limits my first few games were a disaster. I went to 60-minute games and have since won four of six games. My play for the past two games was rated at 1,500 and 1,450, so I'm hoping to bring up my rating. We'll see.

Getting better at chess requires a certain amount of perseverance, time, concentration, and systematicity.

I think that at a certain point, lacking the above things and not having an innate talent, one realizes that he cannot go far and so he plays just for the pleasure of playing. Thus joining the vast majority, who consider chess as a pleasant pastime. In fact, I think that only a small part of the millions of players dedicate themselves body and soul to chess in order to continuously improve.

I'm 1,000ish at everything except for the bullet game. Sometimes I blunder. I go "chess blind" where I've played too many games and I'm not seeing the obvious and not looking at things in depth. Other times I'm playing and losing to someone who is sandbagging, there's a lot of that. If you have a daily rating of 1,000 and your rapid rating is 1400, you are a sandbagger. Your daily rating should be the highest rating you have.

Every player’s improvement rate differs. Some require more time to grasp core ideas and adjust to recognizing patterns in-game.

O-O

People who usually stay under the 1000 for a long period of time either don't take the game seriously, are lazy, or don't do the correct things in able to improve and would rather spend there time doing the wrong things like playing bullet and study opening theory.

don't care as much is a lot of bull - most who play here love the game or hate the game with equal passion -- its just for some of us as in anything in life --some have it to understand-- and some don't --some are quick learners and some are not --i will never get above 300 no matter how much i study or put into place openings here mid game strat there --unless maybe if i had the money to take lessons one on one with someone which i cannot afford i can't even afford premium here let alone lessons or a sign up pay web site which is needed when you reach the 1000 level i am told - but i still care about playing - so don't condescend us under 1000 or or that matter a player like me at 128 today after four straight losses in row and as far as lazy is concerned well thats a different matter for a different reason -- remember its we lowlifes- as you consider us --- that keep this site primed up with easy cannon fodder so others may raise to the surface of over 1000 plus ----- you insult me by even asking the question
