How do you challange someone to a timed game?

I just tried sending a person a challenge for a 30 minute game and the only option I had was correspondence chess (IE 3 days).  And help appreciated.  thxs

You both need to be in Live chess to challenge a player to a Live game I think.

Firstly, add them as a friend. You then have to arrange a time to play or you can see whenever your friends are online. You then both have to press the play live chess. When you are in this screen you have to goto the friends tab where they will be listed, whereupon you can challenge them.

Thanks guys but still a tad confused.  The only people you can challange have to be an accepted friend?   And if so, how come when I clicked on challange this player, it worked but only gave me the option for the corespondence chess.  He was online when I sent the challange.  Not sure why I was only given that one option of playing.  How can I find any playres online who are rated within a certain level and looking to play a 30 minute game?   I normally just challange and the computer matches me up.  And to this day, I have played almost 600 games of chess, and I was the person who initiated the challange every time.  How come the software never sends a challange to me?  Thxs.

To play live chess your friend has to be in the play live chess arena and so do you. Then click on the friends tab. If your friend is not playing then click play and the conditions of your challenge come up. Select the ones you want and issue the challenge.

If you want to choose your games in live chess then look at the graph for a suitable match for you and click the appropriate dot when it appears.
