Like pretty much anything else in life, by doing, i.e., studying, practicing and playing =]

The best way to get better is to play games. From there, learn some theory such as openings, endgame strategies, when to exchange pieces etc.

Just remember, practice makes perfect!

Play rapid games e.g. 15+10 and whenever you lose a game analyse it.
Study annotated grandmaster games.
Solve tactics puzzles.

At our level, tactics training is priority. You have a gold membership therefore recommend doing the 25 rated puzzles everyday if you are very serious in getting up the ranks quickly.

I took a two month break to study tactics, learn one opening as white and 3 defences as black to retort e4, d4 and c4. You’ll leak ELO points if you don’t defend well as black.

 Do analyze all your games.

Jumped back in this weekend on the Arenas and Swiss Tournaments to test the water and saw immediate results. I had a slow start because of getting back to game mode and time controls but once I got on pace, I was immediately competitive.

My highlights included checkmating a 1700+ rated player and finishing 2nd twice and 3rd twice in those tournaments.

To be able to play chess well one needs to be able to do only two things well:

1. Finding appropriate candidate moves for a given position

2. Determining which one is the best candidate move

Nothing suggested thus far will help you with this.

Oh, and the old saying "Practice makes perfect", as someone has stated, is false. The fact is that practice does not make perfect, practice makes permanent.

Only perfect practice makes perfect, which implies that you need to practice the right things in the right way, else perfection, or even just proficiency, will forever elude you.

Sadly the vast majority of chess players do not know what constitutes perfect practice in chess which explains why the average OTB rating is only around 1500.

AlphaZero reached top grandmaster strength with no other input but the rules by playing 700000 games against itself and learning from each one.

WHY IS THIS CHESING NOW CHEATING ON TO MY GAME.
WHEN I WIN I ONLY GET 7 POINTS.
THEN WHEN I LOSE I THEY TOOK MY POIN, 9 POINTS EVEN 10 POIN.
IS THERE A JUSTICE I PLAY CHES HERE..????????
WHY AM I CHEATED BY THIS CHES SYSTEM.,

I prefer to keep queens on the board but what do you if the trade is the best move?

There are times when a queen trade is acceptable if you have a winning position and can convert.

I've seen many forums here that ask the same question. Invariably, they are created by players who play little else than blitz, bullet, or 10-minute games. You will not learn to play chess well that way. You must take time to thoroughly analyze each position in your games and accurately calculate what will happen following whatever move you choose. You just can't do this in a few seconds. Learn opening principles--not a lot of specific lines you don't really understand. Learn the basic theory of positional play. Study endgame technique.

Once you have a better grasp on what you (and your opponent) are trying to do you will see your results improve.
