I'm not the worst chess player, but I'm not all that good, with a rating of about 700 in blitz. How do you improve your game?
Explore the lessons in chess.com. Do the daily lessons and tactics. If you have the patience for books, get some good books.

read a basic strategy and basic tactics book. for example "winning chess strategy", and "winning chess tactics" by Seirawan.
