How Do You Know When You Have Reached Your Prime?

I have been playing chess for around a year and a half, and in all game types, I have constantly been improving. How do I know when I will reach my prime and no longer continue to improve?

You have been playing only for one year and a half and you are already talking about reaching your prime?

LOL, don´t worry, you are still very far from it.

How long does it take to reach your prime?
LM_player
A pretty long time (for most people)

Usually by the time you realize you've reached your prime, you're already declining...sigh. Laughing

One day you'll find love, then a job to feed her and put a roof over her head, that's when you can forget about chess. Enjoy the game now but let life take its course.

Maybe he is asking about natural plateau. When it is no longer enough to only play, but one must also start studying for further improvements.

when you are 41, you're at your prime. It's all downhill from there.

I look at the people's profiles when i play them online, and notice that their highest rating is almost always at least a couple hundred points above where they are now. But they have not been playing for so long

And those guys who play like 200 bullet games every day never seem to improve either

What you don't see on rating graph is the RD Glicko, if at highest rating point the RD was also high, than rating value is not very reliable.

No, the player had played games steadily as seen on the graph and he gradually improved until they were 1685 in blitz in just a couple of years. Then, they steadily decreased until they were just above 1400 when they played me
RALRAL3333
Then, another player was once 1650 and their best win being a 17something player. They were better before, there is no way i could beat a 1700 player in blitz right now

Then i wonder why my rating is improving. I dont usually analyse my games, and i do my tactics very quickly. But thanks for the response

There is no actual peak. How far you go is completely determined by circumstance and whether you are willing to work to achieve the goals you set forth. The goals you set forth are very important by the way. You cannot perform miracles if you do not believe in yourself.

You know you're past it when you receive personalized solicitations for pre-need funeral planning.  When the waitress says "You know we have a seniors discount."  When you know what day of the month your social security check will be deposited to your bank.  Youth is hoping for a BMW.  Age is hoping for a BM.

Given your posts/writing style, I can tell that you're pretty young. So probably not yet. But it also depends on whether you're studying the game and what you're doing outside of just playing.

How do you study your games effectively?

You mean the games you play or the games from other players?

My games
