How do you move to strategy from tactics?

I know less about Russia than you might guess. Do you have chess cafe's?

Kasparov said he won because the goddess of chess was with him:

Don't have such one Hluek. Seem like chess is dead in my province. Young generations in my area are more interested on internet games other than chess. The game need to be revitalized by a certain figure with a certain strat to revive awareness to it's target market.

Maybe Russia can revive it back to it's glorious days worldwide. The game seem to be linked with your country. A weirdo player with the likes of Fischer, a competitor with the likes of Kasparov and an effective media with worldwide coverage can somehow manage to do the task. Most of all what would be the benefits it should offer to the market to create interest for people to get involved.  In return what returns would the institution get once they start this endeavor.

Well a main advantage of chess is it riases your intelligence by making you self aware of errors in your thinking.

Intelligence is the biggest power.

You can out-think people and you are silent and to the point. Like John Wayne.

I wish you all good hunting!

How are you now Hluek?  Last nite I played funny by experiment. Just tried to move by instincts. I lost a lot of games eventually but never the less it is quite fun and funny. Tried making a move in just 5 seconds.  I can now relate that chess has something to do with abstract thinking. Playing regularly will eventually improve your abstract reasoning I.Q.

Instinctive play is the master game, but it takes years to learn!

"Other things being equal, the side that controls more space on the board has an advantage." wiki

One has to learn every tactic and every principle before enacting a strategy. You can have a general aim like killing the enemy's king.

IMO it is now time for another chess ove to be introduced into the game. Only the world champions could do it.

Tentatively a queen castle could be an evolution, or a modification of en passant.

But chess evolution is logical and sets out to deal with uinfiarness on the board. THere are stil a few combinations that need sorting.

Happened to watch Mikhail Tal's famous games in you tube.  The guy is a chess genius.  His game moves are amazing.  He even beat Fischer and Kasparov.  He does not mind losing a lot of his minor pieces as long as he mates his opponent king.  He can calculate effectively various variation surprising the other to get lost of their own understanding as to what his moves are intended.  Brilliant Russian.

It seems a huge task to learn all the tactics you need...I'll look at it next week hopefully, thanks.

Good tactic for pawn gambit!

Hi Hleuk, my reply would be d5.

Thanks I'll try it! Knowledge of the enemy is useful. i dont want to be safe but to attack and coreectness of mopves seems undaring.

When I get old I get arrogant because I have seen many similar patterns. Then I make mistakes. So chess is useful training. Some eastern people think there is part of us called that should be destroyed and is built by faults...the Demon...I dont know if this translates...it is not ego called in Freudianism:

Some things to consider I found useful:

tricks, tactics, terain, weather, allies, spies, deception, infiltration, bribery,
honours system, morale, team, rewards & punishments, assassinations,
POLITICS, fitness & training, supplies, signalling, not hobbbling generals under you,
comunications (signalling), timing, buying time, and selling time,
Use of snowball tactics, ditches, airiel surveillance, computer intelligence, algorthms, a.i.
naval support, food supplies, medicnes, air tactics, space tactics,
Use of fire (Dresden), use of water (dykes, Holland); use of terror, propaganda
offers of peace, treatment of prisoners, use of hostages,  interogations,
psychology: subtleies, character profiling, predictions of enemy leaders,

I am baffled why people pray to feet, although when you get older you can understand why

Praying to feet

this monk is not praying a feet. He must be just in a location near the feet of the one he is praying.

hleuk2

Yes. Appearances may be deceptive. But you could have 18 queens on a board

armhow

I guess so Hluek, all first seen are the deceptive unless your spend time on it profoundly. Just like chess, your thought you can easily win the game then suddenly in the middle of it you blunder. What a game.

hleuk2

Yes blunder. Sun Tzu emphasises correctness and first make yourself safe.

But you have to calculate what the enemy is on very little information. Indian players seems incredibly good?

armhow

The most important lesson I got from chess is to scan first all positions before making a move.  This way you can prevent blunders and attain the most effective move. However doing so requires a lot of time making your game a little boring. Instinctive play is better but often times risky and consistency is compromised. So in your ways what play matters most?

Fun games!

Fun matters most to me!

But we use chess for many different things like self-discipline. Since I joined chess.com I !have wiped 90% of my mistakes. THat is a very hard thing for me to have done & I'm proud of it.

It slows me down. There is no end to chess!!! I think you shoud go for a 20 sequence win!

Salute!

armhow

Getting tired of playing chess sometimes.  Chess is so stressfull when you are serious in winning.  But fun when you just enjoy making funny moves like Tal and sometimes win.

How do you relate chess with self discipline in life scenario? Is it physical conditioning to attain mind winning seasons or just mind controlling emotions.
