How does an ELO rating work?

if i can beat an 850 ELO bot but cant beat a 1200 ELO bot does that mean my ELO is somewhere inbetween? or is ELO based directly off of gameplay?

The bot ratings are estimates and are usually weaker than a member at a similar rating, especially at the lower ratings.

One earns an individual rating in each time theme. Bullet, blitz, rapid, daily, and then bots. Those are your ratings and one does not average them, in terms of knowledge, ability, or skill.
