It depends on the rating of the person you play. When you start a game it will show you the points you will get for a win, draw, or loss. If the person is far below you, you might not get any points, but lose a lot if you fail to win. Chess.com also tracks your rating separately for daily games (1 day or more to make a move) vs rapid vs bullet.
When you go to find a game you can select custom, and then pick the time per move you want, as well as the rating range of who you are willing to play.

There is a very complicated formula for Elo rating: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system#:~:text=Rating%20floors,-The%20USCF%20maintains&text=A%20rating%20floor%20is%20calculated,be%20rounded%20down%20to%201200. Your new rating is depended on your opponent's rating

The site uses Glicko which also includes an uncertainty variable called the rating deviation (RD) value. So changes are dependant on the ratings and both player's RD values.
As far as I can tell, the absolute value of all rating changes in normal 10 minute rapid games (the gamemode I play) is a total of 16 if one player wins. If it's a draw, then points are distributed dependant on who's higher and who's lower.
Equal ELO
+8 on win, -8 On loss, 0 on draw.
Lower ELO then opponent
+9 on win, -7 on Loss, +1 on draw.
Your ELO is higher
+7 on win, -9 on loss, -1 on draw.
If your opponent is significantly higher, then
+10 on win, -6 on loss, +2 on draw. So on and so forth.
