How fast do you read chess literature?

I've sunk my teeth into

The Amateur's Mind: Turning Chess Misconceptions Into Chess Mastery

by the man the legend Jeremy Silman, which I am loving and will be through in a few days (not that I am a fast reader, just have lots of time). How fast do you read chess books? How do you balance it with playing, tactics trainter, chess mentor, life, whatever else you do

Also how many times you have to play the games in the book yo assimilate the ideas? Is there a way to incorporate the technique in actual practice? Can you read Chess books like a novel and remember them?

This is probably my most worn out book. The first round I gave it took a long time because I use a board infront of me as I can't visualize it

Now I shuffle around in it enough to the point I can say I've read it at least three more times. But I use an app on my phone, not only faster but so much easier and can go into other lines without getting confused. Plus I dont look like an uber nerd at Starbucks

With the board I can say it probably took me a good two months but I wasn't just trying to get through it

I should receive that book in a few days. I'm really looking forward to reading it. I don't read many chess books. Actually, I don't get to read much at all anymore. Young kids. Gotta love 'em. But I do get a bit of spare time when catching the train to and from work.

I think you are suppose to read them really quickly if you are a blitz player.

I can follow along for a while with the moves if I use my brain a lot, but sometimes I just sort of mull over the moves and read the annotations. I'm not sure how much I'm missing out on by doing this. I try harder to visualize the high rated games and not so hard with the low.
