How fast does your rating raise/drop?

Of course, we have been taught these little numbers matter little to your chess, much less the online ones, but I don't think a lot of people can just ignore those numbers.. So, how fast does your rating raise or drop? give a general opinion..

On average, it usually raised 100 points every two weeks for the past 2 months.... but there are days where it drops down quite fast... (50 points etc.)

So what's your average raise and record drop? Don't be shy to post, Wink

I got to 1450~ (turn based) soon after starting and plateaued there for a few months, then experienced a 150 point rise. My live rating was stuck down around 1200 for months (I don't play live very often) but also experienced a 200+ point rise recently

I usually drop 150-200 per session

Well let's see...

Teary started here back in March and rose up to about 1500-1600 rather quickly. Then he had a streak of time-outs, so that set him back some; but he has been steadily rising since (up to 1801 now and rising).

Well I always play unrated execpt one time where I joined a game I didn't know was rated and lost so that is why my rating went all the way down to 1081.

I don't know really. I joined about a month ago. My rating is different in each catagory and changes every day either for the better or worse depending on how many blunders I make. It appears that if I make no blunders I always win. If I make blunders I usually lose, but can sometimes recover. I win more than I lose, but I play opponents in live either +/-50 or +/-100 and I play whoever appears in the non-live chess, I'm still provisional there until I have played a full 20 games I believe so it just gives me who it wants to give me to play I guess.

Non-live Standard- 1400's - Upward trend. My goal is to see where I really am. I hope I at least settle in the 1500's or better. I would eventually like to play at 2000. I will need to practice a lot though. However, I think I have the natural vision to make it to a 2000 rating.

Live Standard- 1300's - Upward trend. Don't know where it will wind up. I hope for at least 1500. 1500 is my first goal. I have only played 15 minute games though. I think I would do better with a higher time limit.

Live Blitz - 1200's - Up and down. Blitz is pretty fast and I make a lot of mistakes. If I can eliminate blunders in blitz I think I can get over 1400 pretty fast.

Live Bullet - 800's - Bullet is just too fast for me, I stink at it.

I think that after one has a stable rating that shows where he really is, one could increase that rating with attention to detail and study. The rate of climb will depend on the level of improvement I imagine. I think I can probably be able to defend a 100 point rise a year if I put enough time and effort into chess.

I just played 23 bullet games and my rating is now 1227.

My new rating is 1281.

Another way to look at it is that I have an even overall score against about 1260 opponents.

My bullet rating seems to have a lot of sharp spikes up and down. I once went up over 100 in a day.

Is rating graph a premium only feature? Frown

I would love to see mine

checkmateibeatu

I went from 1081 to 1360 in one day.

checkmateibeatu

That is because I had played just one rated game before then.

Your rating is provisional until you have played 20 games. During that time there is a large swing when you win or lose. After 20 games it rises or falls much more slowly. The system is designed to find out where your playing strength really is before it tightenes up.
