How fast does your rating raise/drop?
I don't play as often as I should, but my win/loss ratio over my most recent live games has been quite good. I went from 1509 on June 28 to 1633 on July 26.

When I stopped playing in tournaments in 1994 I was in the 1800's. But in the US Open in 1992 I was registered as a class C player, finished with a 6 1/2 to 5 1/2 score, tied for first place in my class and won the tie break [based on who was playing at the highest level, {since I didn't play any C players} I played 2 experts, 8 class A players, the person who won the class B title, and one unrated player] The computer said I played at a level exceeding 1900. The following year however I entered the Mid-America Class Championships in Chicago for class B and didn't even finish 3rd. I felt great, I thought I was better, but it left me somewhat suspect about ratings. If I could really play at a plus 1900 clip, then why did I do so poorly in a Class B tournament. At the end of 1993 I was a class A player, but I'm still a little suspect of ratings.

My rating has been fluctuating between 1430 and 1490. I don't get above or below that. I average about 1460 but I'm usually either higher or lower than that on any given day. For instance today I am a 1451 but I know for sure that I have a won game coming against a 1600 something and that will give me 11 points he will either resign or be mated in a few moves. I then know I have a lost game coming against a 1600 something and that will drop me 4 I have lost my queen and am about to resign because he is too competant to beat when I am understaffed like that. Then I have many games that could still go either way against a lot of opponents rated pretty close to what I am, so I will probably win some and lose some and maybe draw one or two of those and wind up back around 1460 again.
It has been that way for many weeks now.
Maybe I'm actually a mid 1400s player?
Edit: I'm not resigning yet. I found a way to salvage my queen. I'm still down a bishop though ;)

To AnthonyCG- I think you're right about that, as I have a record of 5-3 [4 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties against experts, when my rating never officially went above about 1860.

If youre talking about chess.com ratings. Then i can tell you i honestly dont care about that rating. The only rating im conerned about is my USCF rating.
I don't have a USCF rating because I don't have time to physically go to a place away from home or work and play chess for hours each week. I'm too busy for that. I can manage to play online though because I can do that from home or work and not drop anything else. So the chess.com rating is all I have.
Before I found chess.com I had no way to even play the game other than against a computer.
