he might beat gm in blitz or rapid but there is very low chances of him beating gm in classical chess

That's wrong. A 2300-something player has quite a few chances to beat a GM at classical chess.

What is unlikely is that he will achieve consistent results against GM opposition when he spends most of his time on his streaming stuff instead of working on his play- but then admittedly he gets paid much better from what he's doing now. I do not like most of his streaming stuff, but kids like it, and this is what matters.

Unless he focuses on his play, I do not see him having chances for GM. Heck, his rating is the same as mine when I was 58 y.o. which means that he is playing casually, already (he cannot be on the decline when he's still 28 y.o.)

Good at what?

At playing he is almost good- so far his highest rating is about the same as mine many years ago.

As a chess streamer and YT influencer, he is total junk, which explains why he has so many followers.

That's not very nice!

But it is true

You are trying to have us believe that you lost over 1,000 rating points? Were you using stockfish or something? You don't go from a rating that almost brings a title, to 900. You should have retained something?

Old Potatoes.

They only have eyes for you!

I like his stuff, and I'm useless at Chess, but find it an enthralling game.

sure he talks fast and can be quite cutting, but it makes me laugh out loud when he holds his head in his hands and

"Who on earth would play a stupid move like that!!"

10 minutes after I have made the same move against the lower computer bot

What on earth is the problem, if you are rubbish at the game and like it..who's bothered apart from a few humourless folk who think everyone plays like Bobby Fischer?

I would love to play him, cos I reckon he would that surprised at my openings he would faint through sheer exasperation and I'd probably win on time

He's entertaining, and hardly goes out of his way to insult people, its simply some people seem to love being outraged about almost anything these days

On his final candidate re cap Levy mentions he is going to be in a tourney, starting on July 7?

Any one know  which one and how to watch?

Gl Levy!!

At the end of his "Candidates Tourney" wrap up/final  recap

he said "In 3 days " but with time changes and delays to that vid being posted- I'm unsure of the date- and I haven't heard him mention which tourney he's going to be in.

Seems kind of silly not to name it.

SimpleHumano

Well, you should see his Elo rank. That's enough.

He is an IM, which is a position I try to aspire to but have realistic expectations. Chances are you will learn from him. That is what matters. I will probably not get IM, and honestly becoming a Master is outside the realm of possibility.

You phrased the question incorrectly. The question should be "Can I learn from Gotham" and the answer is that you can learn from any game, but especially games where people are rated higher than you.

zone_chess

He's an IM, and I am not nor do I realistically set myself that goal.
But honestly he's to me a fullblown GM.

He also got this winning position against Carlsen the other day.

He also persuaded me that the Alapin is the best Sicilian.

I wonder if he has a video about how to play the Snyder Sicilian as black. He needs to make one.
