How Good Is Gothamchess??

Oh god, the videos I've seen of his are truly awful. He copies some line out of a book, stops at a random point, and gives completely gibberish evaluations.

Maybe he's gotten better since I last saw him, but really... I'd say get your opening info from almost anywhere else.

I mean at like 1300 level i didn't need to know really that much... Just how to get to the positions, why you make some moves... I can figure a lot of that out myself.

Except he gives old and bad lines, doesn't even show the whole line (stops randomly like I said) then talks a lot of nonsense.

For 1300.... maybe that's ok? But why set yourself up to need to unlearn things later?

Like I said, it's been years since I've seen him. Maybe he's not fking terrible anymore... maybe.

I don't know... I didn't understand anything back then about how good lines were or whether or not they stopped at random places. 

Just that he (1) talked clearly and (2) was simple. 

And that was good enough for me, so it left a positive impression after I stopped relying on videos.

As a chess player, Levy is strong. As a streamer, he is hardworking, likable and successful. As a lover...well, he made me promise not to tell.

Once you know they're copying moves you just go fast.

Of course sometimes I've lost before they run out of time too.

I'm not a fan of Gotham's pesentation style. It is overly hyper and feels targeted towards young kids. That said, watching a 1700 blitz player claiming to be stronger at his peak is some next level arrogance. It would not surprise me if Levy has students that are stronger than Pfren.

Pfren is 2375 blitz fide and Gothamchess is 2376 blitz fide
