Otb 1600 elo exchange currency is a well respected rating. If you start studying chess at 18 because before you are minor and those reflexes are not valid in chess understanding and you will suffer all life. And if you start studing chess after 40 years old you cannot understand either it. If you start at 16 or 18 you can reach 1600 the first stopgap after 2 years eventhough you can find harder to play blitz time controls yet.

Lots of times I think “I’m having a nice night, let’s ruin it with some chess”

For me personally I started 4 years ago at 700, took a 1 year break, came back at 1200, took a 2 month break, go to 1500 and got my acc hacked.

In his math, he assumed 20 minutes! It would have to be less on average!

Not hard if you practice well. I have 2000+ rating with not much effort at age 14. Just practice at our weak points not studying everything.

lol ... i think 1600 is intermediate level ...

Avatar of HangingPiecesChomper

nah, 2500 on this site is intermediate level. 1600 is beginner

No. You all are wrong. That's pure trash. 0-500 are people who know nothing about chess. 500-1000 is new to chess people. 1000-1500 is pure beginner (where I am). 1500-2000 is intermediate. 2000-2500 is advanced. 2500+ means you are a god.

1600 is so bad. 1800 also bad

Yes. Kind-of because that "YOU ARE 1800!" feeling is lost when after 5 games you are back to 1700. And also, that dopamine is lost when you are brutally stuck at the same level.

I'm 11 and stuck around ~1050 rating. I am for sure clearly cursed. I am cursed in everything. In studies also, I get only 99.8%. That is nothing. 100% would be something... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Interesting, coming from a 1410 blitz. I personally think the boundaries between beginner, intermediate, and advanced are very diluted. At my very unimpressive 1100 or so rating, people play like anything from what I consider 800 to 1600, at least until they (or I) make a huge blunder. 1600 is definitely considered intermediate, but 1100, a point where most players have a firm grasp on the game, is considered beginner.
