Chess made me addicted to tuna.
How has chess ruined your life?

Chess made me way too sexy.
Now I'm being chased by women 24/7 and sleep is hard to come by.
Best answer so far!

Coming from the guy who punched his mom instead of his dad.

I know what OP is talking about. My dad taught me chess, and the next day I punched my mom.

thxs doc Spudnik for the fun story...the rest of you as well...enlightening, unstoppableForce. it seems to me that staring at a board is better for our planet than most human activity which involves tearing the place up. as we/if we head into an occupational activity we usually get there with a petro-chemical powered device. so yes, we chessplayers are ruining our own lives, but the planet appreciates it. our planet wanted me to mention that it appreciates the walking and bicycling thats being done.

started sleeping late at night and haven't been able to exercise frequently thus I gained about 15 pounds.

I became so obsessed with chess.com that I stopped doing everything else; I've lost my job and my home, my wife and kids, and all my friends, 2/3 of my body weight, and I now live out of a shopping cart. I go to public libraries to play online during the day. Sometimes I go into computer stores that have free internet and play there, until they throw me out. My friends under the bridge have a stolen laptop and we play the free chess game that came with the computer, but the battery keeps dying and we have to find someplace to recharge it.
I guess my life isn't really much different; all I was doing was playing chess before and that's all I do now.
Is this all actually true?

I'm not buying this, dude! It's right there by your name! A premium member. Diamond icon and all!
You wouldn't be able to afford it if you lived out of a shopping cart!
if chess is to blame for your woman beating and lack of tenure at a respected institution you should write a book or screenplay. maybe you could be played by jim carrey or liam neeson.
you have to have dreams...........
