One of my current opponents in a daily game joined chess.com 11 days ago, has played 4 daily games, and gone from 1200 to 1564, with 3 wins and one draw. How is that possible?
And now he/she/it is sending me whacko chat, like "Sorry, hey Bruh, you playing good BTW". Hmm. Real?? It is this:
The site uses the Glicko rating system that includes a measure of rating uncertainty called the rating deviation (RD) value. Players with few games in a pool have a high RD value and will see larger rating changes after games. As more games are played, the RD value drops and the magnitude of rating changes does as well.
