1. No grudge rematches

2. Excepted rematch requests from weaker players

3. If I felt outmatched went for a draw if it made sense

4. Took little breaks between games

I disagree with number 2 and 3 (and slightly number 4):

Many research shows that the ‘prime’ opponent is about 100 rated above you for improvement, also, ALWAYS play for a win and if you going to play for a draw (because you are losing)- best is to resign and move onto the next game.

The more games you pkay and analyse - the more you improve. Personally, I would play more rapid games and quit bullet chess entirely. I find bullet chess more of a hindrance then anything…

Why do people always have to argue on this site? This is how I gained 100 Elo within 3 days. What I'm saying here is not mutual exclusive with what you are saying. In fact you might get more matches with difficult opponents if you follow my advice. How often do you get rematch requests from weaker opponents? Playing a weaker opponent for a second or third match every 15 games is not going to dull your game. But it is an easy way to push up your Elo matching you with more challenging players more often. Also if you lose more often when you don't take short breaks between games why would you not take breaks? How is your Elo going to go up if you are losing more often? And as far as draws, people play for draws all the time! It's an important thing to know how to do. All i'm saying is play for the draw if you are in a losing position and think you can get it against a better opponent. It will only be a difference of a minute, is easy, and will save you points over time.

It seems like you are thinking in terms of intense time management. I am just saying here are some quick and easy things you can do to bump up your Elo. You can study till your heart's content at the same time.
