I seem to have a huge number of opponents who have ran out of time but just sit in my games list (36 of them!). I think they may have been or on vacation time from what I gather but it's cluttering up my games feed. How long will these games sit there for and can anything be done?

You need to go to your settings and check the autowin box.  Like this:
