How long did it take you to cross 1500?

I am playing since 7 years and yet to cross 1500 in blitz. I am close to 1400 right now. That is because I used to play slower games more. Now I have started playing blitz and bullet games everyday.

So FMJackMate, what are the right things to study then? Serious question.

DUde, I croseed 1500 USCF wihich is a lot harder than a 1500 chess.com. All you need is tactics. I would say 1200 USCF= 1500 chesscom. So I would say tactics are very important Don't relaly study openings.

DonaldoTrump, nice rating. How many games on here did it take you to reach that?

1500 in blitz puts you higher than about 90% of the players here. https://www.chess.com/livechess/players

DonaldoTrump, you haven't beaten anyone over 1300 on here yet and you've only played 2 blitz games. The rating they let you choose to start out from is quite different than one you can actually earn and prove. Once you've played 1000 games or so, you'll get a more accurate idea of where you stand.

Learningthemoves, I dont play here, but I am a strong player. I chose to start at the 1800 rating so no dogmatic dude calls me patzer and doesnt take seriously my chess related comments.

DonaldoTrump, makes sense to me. Most do tend to just take things at face value anyway.

When I decide to close this account and open StillLearningtheMoves, I'll probably start at 1800. I won't create my real name account until the year 2026 when I will have hopefully had ample time to start studying, training and get closer to approaching my potential. I wish I had learned the game as a youth.

In any case, even with the benefit of the doubt, I still won't take your chess related comments seriously until you've at least played as many blitz games on here as I have drawn. If you start playing 3 games every day now, you could do it by 2017.

That's nothing personal, it's just my own principle of trust but verify and everything is a lie until evidence proves otherwise.

No problems, dont take them seriously, anyways I dont post serious chess comments on the forums, I save those for the Club I am in.

On websites, I don't think I was ever really below 1500. I started playing at school and then bought the chessmaster game, played that for 6 months, watched the games, did the courses, then I discovered the online world. I was 16 then.

Speaking of which, I really miss chessmaster for Xbox. The famous games were set up so well. The board, the notations. I hope they make a good chess game for the newer systems, not including PC

5 years? Thats like 1800+ USCF over there like me.

I'm still struggling to rise out of the beginner ranks (<1800) and hit the intermediate (2000) level. Was anyone able to accomplish this in a short period?
