I'm just saying, you need to take longer to think in online chess as you play harder opponents.
How long do you think before moving?
Well, I must have a super brain because I win much more than I lose.
Either that or your opponents have an average rating of 1321.

Do you always just find threads to insult people in? I admit, I insult people if they give me a reason to, but you just do it for fun, why do you enjoy being a jerk?
Who is insulting who, lol!? When you are condescending towards people, you will likely find an appropriate response. "Super Brain"? I mean, come on, really? Does that mean if you spend 5 minutes a move you'll be ready to take on Anand next week? Don't you see? Its no big deal though....haha. Dont get your boys in a twist over it....

If you make statements like this, expect to be challenged.
Well, I must have a super brain because I win much more than I lose. And I move in about 15 seconds most of the time.
sounds good!
I find that I can only play 2 or 3 games simultaneously because otherwise I just don't have the time to devote to making good moves. It's actually helped to reduce the number of games I play because I used to just play conservatively to avoid having to think too much. When I can really put some time into a game, it lets me play more aggressively because I can take the time to work out the consequences better.
Here is an example of where I spent several minutes in some phases to obtain this position and where I went on automatic and essentially just moved fast in a CC game. 14dy/move.
In complex positions, I spend ~20 minutes on my FIRST viewing of a position. I try never to move on the first day. I record the variations I analysed, make light comments on what I like (usually just a single note, such as !, !?, ?? Look at this) and then go back the next day and delve deeper. Some positions require hours of such work.
i guess thats why your rating is so high
Some moves I had decided on several moves in advance, so it can be tough to calculate...this is in c.c.
depends on time controls. I divide time with 40 and this is approximate time per move. I will try to conserve time so that when the position gets sharper I will have the time to find a move that I think wil do the trick.
If I can see that the game will end sooner this will give me more time. If I see a win in material that will be easy win I will tend to use more time to check everything.
I love thinking on opponents time :)
How do you people have so much time? If I took 3 minutes each game, in the morning it would take me hours, and yall take 20 minutes?
Well atleast I dont play a billion games at the same time. I'm playing 4 now and I would actually rather have 3 because I find myself without time to make good moves.
It depends on too many factors like my interest in the particular game, my time available, my mood, etc. I probably spend anywhere from 1 minute to a few hours on a non-obvious move.
i'm afraid i lose concentration after too long
people who spend longer than 5 mins analysising a move have 1 or more of these
1). More patience than i have
2). More time than i have
3). A better grasp of the game than i will ever have
i admit on a rare occasion i will spend longer looking at a position (normally after pinning myself in a corner and hoping if i stare long enough the trap my queen just walked into will suddenly disappear
maybe its those occassions i should be more patient than i am
(the irony being i often dont move fast enough in blitz games and i'm the one who runs out of time)
I would say I take between a few seconds (openings, easily won games etc), and 10-15 minutes. Never much longer, but sometimes I leave a game for another time if I'm not sure.
