5-8 games per day is a joke. I did 5-8 hours a day during quarantine and summertime.

Exactly if you are jus gonna do 5-8 games per day you won’t even break 1300

Concern yourself with shorter term goals first.

Try breaking 1000 on chess.com for instance.

Then go for 1500, and then 2000.

Until you’ve broken 2000, you shouldn’t concern yourself with candidate master, much less Grandmaster

Put it into perspective.

I am double your rating, considerably younger than you, and just getting to 2000 online will be an arduous task for me.

But the sheer ease of the task relative to getting even CM or NM is laughable.

And yet many CM’s and NM’s, despite most of them wanting it, will never achieve the title of GM.

I know this may seem harsh, but it is simply the reality of the situation.

There are fewer than 1800 Grandmasters on Earth, compare that to the hundreds of millions of chess players.

Yeah but 5 to 8 rapid games could take several hours. Depends how long the rapid timer is.

When I was a newer player, I used to play 15/15 games, which generally took around 40 minutes per game.

5 to 8 games at that pace would be 200 to 320 minutes . . . or 3 to 5 hours of daily gameplay.

(As a beginner, I used to stop after 2 games.)

If you needed two months to arrive at 50% of chess.com, seems logical to think you need two months more to arrive at 100%. Maths don’t lie, do they. So before this summer we’ll enjoy a new grandmaster. Congratulations.

The chess.com time honoured way of becoming a GM is to assert that one will become a GM one day with some improbable study schedule, followed by an indignant response to those who doubt an older person not supported and brought up by chess supporting parents can become a GM.

Anyone's station in life is often determined by background. A man or woman's achievements are often an indication of their parents, teachers, and societal input as much as their own innate talent.
