I saw a chess tournament that said a USCF member ship is required. How do I get this?

No worries.
They'll take your money to join USCF on site when you show up to register at the tournament.

I have a rating of about 800 on this site. how good will I do?

Relax, you'll be fine.
You'll be playing against other unrateds and you'll have fun.

You can register onsite at the tournament, or you can register online at uschess.org

how good you do depends on who shows at the tournament and how it is structured, if it is small and open you may get chucked together with master or A rated players, but almost always there are divisions: open, A, B, C, and unrated, etc...., just call admin for tournament and ask first or look at their post at USCF

i could give you my uscf membership if you want. its quite high rated

Yeah, if it's a small tourney with only 1 section you might lose all your games.

Don't worry though, lots of people have that experience. Nakamura (a world top 10 player) lost all the games of his first tournament as I recall. Don't go there to beat everyone, go there for the love of the game, the love of competition, and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts.

You can get USCF membership online here. This way you can figure out which membership applies to you and if you want to get the monthly magazine Chess Life delivered or just read the online version.

There might be other local membership requirements but usually you can get those on site too.

Also if you have a local chess club they will be very helpful.

Note than when you join online, you'll get a temporary membership card you can print-out: you need that info. if you choose to have Chess Life mailed to you, all the info you need for tournaments is on the mailing label on the magazine.

I rejoined in December, after being away for some years, and I've gotten my first Chess Life but no permanent ID card.  I'm not worried about it since the temp card and mag. label do the job.
