bloody incredible!

Casual_Joe

I think way more people get accused of cheating than actually cheat.  Some people almost think that if they lose then their opponent must've been cheating.

Trag55

Casual Joe is right. I'm always being accused of cheating, whereas the truth is I'm an old drunk who plays much better on sober days!

You have only played a total of 58 flippant blitz games on chess.com and not met any cheaters. What exactly are you whinging about?

it depends......usually one way of telling a cheat, especially if u are a solid player is that when you think you have him, he outsmarts you...reason being that a chess program analyses millions of moves while the great kasparov analyses an average of 3 moves per position....so its nearly a no win situation....

This is not even remotely a way to tell if someone is cheating.  People fight back all the time from bad positions -- that is not at all an indication that they're cheating.

another smart one, who thinks that by checking some stats will find the answer to the question, better yet to world hunger! let me tell you a secret: this nickname that i have now it's just the current one. i have been playing under other accounts which i have deleted every time i got bored with them.

i know that i'm exagerating to some extent, but to have a couple of 1300~, 1400~'s, telling you by move ten, that you should resign, im sorry but i dont find it normal. i'm not a solid player, i dont pretend to be but i'm also not blind to whats happening there!

but i gotta agree to Trag55, i should play better drunk..dont know if i play better but at least I wouldn't give a damn crap about what's goin on around here!

If you suspect are playing against any then report them. Is as simple as that.

To netzach: do you think the OP is musacha or someone else ? Wink

Oraoradeki

I think cheats and those who accuse of cheating are both obsessed with numbers. I don't want to care about some stupid online number next to my username, so I let the cheaters go.

Occasionally though, as a 1600+ Blitz player I sometimes lose to a 1200 who plays a good game. I then look at the other player's profile for his/her past games. If that same player consistently loses to, lets say players rated around 1000, then I get a feeling that the 1200 did cheat against me. but I only do those kind of stuff to make myself feel better, not to try and name and shame my opponents who beat me.

The bottom line: I think almost everyone cheated here, at least once in their online playing career. Those who actually cheated will not admit to cheating because they are ashamed of themselves.

Another way is to monitor the sound effects. 9 out of 10 times when your opp isnt making a sound when they move their pieces, no matter their internet connection, its usually a program.

Um... did u check the sound settings on your computer?

StartlingNewEvidence

How many cheaters can be on this site? Millions... How many active cheaters are regularly playing on this site? 50? How many idiots are there that believe 1400 players cheat? Thousands. Who even cares if they cheat? I fail to see how it hurts your experience, only theirs.

i really don't understand what are you trying to pull out here! i told you that i'm not new here! really really you wanna prove that i'm a newguy here and have no right to say anything..but i've seen you and another one (won't give his name) being just..let's say..against an OP.

however jsut to clear the air, i've had some terrible games, where i acknowledge my own abysmal blunders; i'm not talking only about these 58 or how many (netzach knows better) i have here, but many others i played here! sometimes it's just frustrating to see that under no circumstance you can compete with some 200-300 players udner you.

this being said, i thank all of those who tried to share a decent opinion! if i start a thread i don't need a wiseguy.

Cheating occurs from approximately 1800 upwards.

The rest of you can just relax, enjoy Xmas, and not get paranoid.

@u_r_an_opportunist

ur a doofus and unlikely to be here long.

I bet if ur rating was 1757 u would have said 1700 upwards huh? :)

netzach

Not true Macer.

Met plenty cheats. Most were 1800+.

You have not encountered any:

So "supertroll" or not you are not qualified to comment.

macer75

Ic. But anyway, I get the point ur making. I've played around 1000 games on this site (despite public opinion, which thinks that all I do is troll on the forums), and never once have I suspected my opponent of cheating.

netzach

Not too bad.

Between 5-10 % and mostly in TM's and Tournaments.

macer75

Ok, so I see you've edited your comment. Anyway, I've said all I have to say.
