I usually try to keep my games to a minimum (1-10 games). I have a chess team that I have to take care of 24/7. About the hello thing, I only say hello when my opponent says hello to me first.
How many games do you play?

Usually around 10-15, but I've got alot of extra time on my hands currently, and I'm looking to increase it to around 25-30.

I am tending to keep the number on the low side, like less than 10. I had about 16 going at one time and it made me anxious. I may switch over to live chess primarily, the online chess creates tension that takes a long time to release.
funny i have been curious about this, used to play 5 games at a time until a few days ago.. maybe a week my progress had been slow i started chess around the 1000 rating about a year ago and managed to get to a solid 1200 but it took a fair while. in teh last 7 days i have been playing around 30 games and what i have found is that i have found it clearer to see my mistakes and strong moves.
When I play someone new I always check their profile just to learn their name if nothing else, so I can say Hi and use their name. I am surprised that about half of my opponents never reply. In tournaments isn't it standard practice to shake hands before and after the game? Anyhoo, that is not my question for today. I am wondering what the average number of games you play. I usually keep it to about 4 to 6 but I am now playing someone who has over 60 games going. He is playing a good game so I don't have a problem with it but just wondered how "unusual" this is.
