You guys both actually have very good tactics ratings for your levels so I would suggest maybe playing more games. Playing lots of games will help your intuition tremendously.
How many hours to reach 2000 blitz elo?

I'm going to be a national master! Just reached 2200 USCF https://www.uschess.org/msa/MbrDtlMain.php?17080462.

If you are playing
What a great thread! So great to see how persistence pays off and now granted you the NM title! Congrats Chris and much success on your continuing journey

I hadn't really played chess before but I started here on chess.com and have been improving pretty quickly. I started a couple months ago at 650 and am now almost at 1200. I have played about a thousand games but I am worried I will start to palteau against better opponents. I am willing to practice a lot and I would really love to get to 2000 some day for blitz. Does anyone know how long this takes?
You are now a NM how was the journey and what led to your improvement the most

Thank you Joschuaa.
SMODLJIVKO As you can see from my profile I have played a ton of games. I think that has been the biggest factor. I really enjoy speed chess so that is usually what I play. I also play 50-100 classical games a year. I think speed and classical chess compliment each other because speed chess builds your pattern recognition and intuition while classical chess teaches you to think deeply and calculate.
For speed chess I'm a fan of 10 minute chess, 5 minute chess, and 3 minute chess. I recommend starting with slower time controls before trying faster ones. I played 10 minute chess for a long time before switching to 5 minute chess, and then eventually switched to 3 minute chess.
This has been my experience but it is not the only way. I know people who have mainly played bullet and puzzle rush and are over 2000 rated. I know people who have read a lot of books and studied master games to get better. What matters most is you are enjoying it. The only way to guarantee that you will not improve is if you quit because you are sick of it.
I think it's important to keep it fun. I have always enjoyed playing blitz games, so that is mostly what I do. When I am stuck in a plateau I will often try to change things up. Maybe try a new time control like rapid. Maybe switch to tactics studying. Maybe learn an opening etc. I think working on tactics and calculation is very important at your level. John Bartholomew has a great video that taught me the right way to solve tactics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFNAvpiDEBg
Basically you want to spend as much time as you need until you are sure you have the right answer. (You can give up if you don't see it in 10 minutes). Training tactics this way taking your time and pushing yourself to visualize I believe will help break through plateaus. If you can get your tactics rating up a couple hundred points it should translate to your blitz.
