Even though this may be a private thread between you and Joe, I'll put in my two cents;) I'm so use to losing chess games that it rarely affects me, at all:)

well everything considered when a game begins it is assumed there will be a winner and a loser. now a draw is geberally considered to be a disappointment to both sides,  it is 50-50 anyone can be a loser more or less frequently and depending on the competition.   But never forget, to lose is human, but to lose gracefully is divine.  What do you think Joe?

Since you asked me, I think there are worser feelings on earth than losing a chess game.   Tongue Out

If you never lose you don't learn as much. When I lose a game I go back through the game to understand why I lost and learn from my mistakes. So even my losses are wins in a way as I gain knowledge and I'm happy for my opponent. Even so I still really like to win. Smile

I don't mind losing if I played reasonably well.  Obviously, to lose implies that I made some mistake.  However, if it was a subtle mistake and my opponent played brilliantly to exploit it, I would not be that disappointed.  However, if I play badly (which unfortunately is a common occurrence), then I do get irritated at myself.  In fact, I've been upset with myself where I have won the game -- because I made numerous blunders that the other player failed to notice/exploit.  So it's not really losing that I hate -- so much as poor playing.

Cutting your hand open might qualify as worse

As much as would rather win, I honestly don't mind it too much. Sure, I make idiotic mistakes which I can get angry at myself for, but at the end of the day, I feel like losing games helps me develop my skills. You can pick up tricks others have used on you, it helps you avoid losing positions in the future, it can stop you making more idiotic mistakes, etc etc.

A player who hates losing is a player who hates chess.

I'd rather win; however, losing is not the end of the world. What tends to bother me is seeing moves I missed that could have won games, especially just after I make the move!! And, of course, blunders like hanging a Queen which I did last week and saw it just as I accepted (confirmed) the move!!

success is a journey, not a destination

DinDin211

You need to learn from your mistakes not from your successes and FAILING IS PART OF SUCCESS!!!!!!!

But I believe that everyone does not want to lose but its fine.
