How much would you pay to play Carlsen in a simul?

I think I'd pay $50 to play a World Champ(current or former).  Doubt I'd go much higher.

I would pay him $100 to play Houdini3 and then bet the rest of my money on Houdini.Watched him on the Colbert report, he was as dry as a stale cracker. Would pay Fischer way more.

You would then be playing against a corpse.

I wouldnt pay a penny. But if they pay enough, I would consider playing.

Carlsen would have owned Fischer's ass from here to Reykjavik...

I don't think I would enjoy a game of which I knew my opponent was forced to play it. Carlsen or not. So it would be wasted money anyway Wink

Nada. I would sell my liver to play against Botvinnik, though.

Not in the 1960's. He would be helpless in age where opening theory was just starting out and where one had no computer analysis to rely on.

Let's be honest, Carlsen is a by-product of the computer age. If Fischer had the same exact benefits, he would be a God.

I wouldn't pay just to play Carlse, but I would pay $50 US currency to play and have a group lesson with him, and $100 US currency for a game and private lesson.

Money has more value to you when you have to work for it.

$50 is the _average_ cost of playing ANY grandmaster in a simul....

Avatar of TetsuoShima

why pay for getting beaten, i might as well just get a domina for that.

no one could have beaten Fischer in his prime.

All those of you cheapoes who say that $100 that is enough not just for a game with Carlsen but also a dinner and analysis, have a look at this link:

There would be no point in me playing Carlsen since I'm simply not strong enough to even make a game of it.  It would be a waste of time for both parties.  If I feel like getting destroyed in a game of chess I can always fire up Houdini for a few games.

i think so too, i mean im not a carlsen fan yet but even if i were i would find it pretty embaressing to play against a super GM.

but damn i would have paid a lot to meet Bobby Fischer still. Shame he is dead and he died before i could ever meet him.

I don't think that someone can appreciate something he's totally unable to understand... in our case, this is good chess.
