How not to stall

I haven’t won a tournament or money, but I have won plenty of games. I enjoy winning games and learning from the ones I’ve lost. What’s your point?

Hey now, “pathetic” is not a nice word to use, dude. Aside from your insults, I get the feeling that in real life you probably get along pretty well with people. You’re just venting here.

Speaking for myself, I simply enjoy bettering myself at something. I happen to believe that not everyone is capable of achieving grandmaster status, or master or even expert level. A lot of people can probably achieve the lower of those levels, but I don’t believe everyone can. It’s just an interesting challenge to see how far you can rise at the game. Doesn’t have to be a boxing match or some other form of competition, it can just be a journey of self revelation. I’m sure there have been people in the world who haven’t felt the smartest, but then they encounter chess and realize they actually are pretty smart. That can be life-changing for a person.

I do? Thanks for telling me. Anyway, back from La La Land, sometimes I slip, make a mistake, lose a piece and regret it. Guess what, it might happen to my opponent, too. Does that make sense? So no, I don’t quit and many, many times my opponent has slipped as well and I have won the game. Those hard won victories are some of the most rewarding victories.

But you don't win anything. What's rewarding about it?

What do YOU get from arguing on online forums? With your form of cost-benefit analysis then you should be gone!

It is one thing to stall a little bit when we've blundered into a losing position, but what I don't understand is people who stall before an obvious checkmate...how long should we allow our opponents to savor a victory by checkmate before we resign?

Dante was clearly not a chess player. If he'd been, there would definitely be a dedicated circle for chess stallers.
