How Often Do You Make BONEHEADED Moves?

Where you're literally giving up a free piece, opening yourself up to checkmate, completely missing a free capture, etc.?

And at what rating do you see people stop doing such things?  For example, do people rated 1500+ still leave pieces hanging for free capture?

Just the other day, I captured a piece with my Queen and didn't see a knight right there that was able to capture my Queen!!!  I thought WOW what a completely boneheaded mistake.  Almost like forgetting 2 + 2 = 4!

There's just something about the visual calculation nature of chess that's different from other things I do on a regular basis and I do find that even after a year's worth of play that I still TOTALLY miss things like that.  Not sure if it was just late at night or what, but I was totally embarassed by such a dumb move on my part.  Just wondering at what level people stop making these mistakes?

It probably never stops but just becomes less common.
