How often does a Fools Mate Occur Realistically?

I’ve heard of fools mate, which occurs when the following happens: 1. f4

e6 2. g4 Qh4#. How often does this happen in a match, realistically speaking? It seems hard to fall for this, but I’ve seen it happen.

Rarely and most likely against beginners. The pattern, on a latter move, is likely more common but still probably rare.

The 2 move mate version of it probably never happens in real games.

But that sort of pattern has probably mated quite a few beginner level players before move 10... still very rare of course, but not unheard of.

Not the two-move version, but I've had opponents make it available a few moves later. (I'm sub-1200 rapid). Just a few days ago, on [the other site], I was able to win by checkmate on move 15, when my opponent moved their g-pawn, having previously moved their f-pawn. https://lichess.org/Kzw5zH3R/white

That’s a common example although I haven’t seen it in games much

They're more likely to fall for it if you premove Be7.
