OK, I will start with myself. Wink Feel free to post it.

22 y/o

EDIT: Whoops sorry, not how long are you chess.com member, but how old are YOU. But you can also include the second meaning. Wink

There are more forums about this subject and in one of them I found only one player one and a half year older than I am.

It is a pity most members of chess.com don't give their year of birth, nor their profession ( I did, click my name ).

But: why asking the question ?  What purpose have 20 or 40 answers ?

I'm 25. This is an interesting question. I would be curious to know what the average age here was. Many times I start to get worked up over offensive comments sent during matches, but then I realize my opponent is probably 12 years old (and better than me). Of course, there are also many respectful young'uns here too.

18. 19 in September though.

Thank you! RomyGer, CSBFXE said exactly what I thought. Average age, mroe young players, yes or no, and something like that.

I'm 52. Started playing seriously with 12, and had a long break from 36 to 46.

Victor: You didn't say the name of your group?

Besides your profile say you were born in "Mar 20, 1907" making you 106 years old. Wow!

@ Schiffrin, further to post nr 3, I found an older member, born in 1929, so that might be the end of your bell-curve.

@ Denverhigh : please tell me why I should join the Geezer Group, I checked and found 82 members in the US, 13 in the UK and 25 in mostly English speaking countries, viz. 7 Canada, 4 Australia and 2 Ireland.

Two in France and ten countries with one member.

Moreover, I only play 2/1, 3 and 5/2 minutes games, so when your group  plays longer games, I am of no use...            Thanks, regards, Ger.

@ Schiffrin : we shall never know, but I think it will not be a regular bell curve, like the number of people with the same age in a country, perhaps the curve of members of chess.com has two ( or even three ) topquantities, many in their youth, less in midlife, more when members are over 55-60, the second top being lower than the first one.

It is like chess clubs : a lot of youth, than they leave the club at 20-25 years of age, constant in midlife; and again clubmember when retired, a lot of "old" chessplayers ( the latter even a problem because of ageing, can be the reason of closing the club, as in my village, lately )

What I said, we will never know, you know how many million members there are; and you got 7 answers.

Hey there, all :)  48 and still counting -- guess God's not done with me yet <gg>

Not surprised here at all at the relative youth of the group.  There are far fewer cyberphobes the younger the group gets -- and let's face it, some of these kids have never known what it's like not to have a computer in the house!
