How old where you when you first started chess?

yup always did it when bored lol

I wasn't even a year old mom started buying me jelly chess pieces, they were yummy and my subconscious told me chess is a good thing

then dad bought me a rook shaped costume, i wore it till my 3, never took it off.. not even once. only downside i could only walk in cardinal directions (luckily it wasn't a pawn costume..)

only after i learned how pieces move, and some openings, I could start going to school but i wasn't able to come back (no endgame knowledge yet)

12 years old for me...

About seven. Funnily enough, it was Christmas. Under the Christmas tree, a present attributed to 'Santa' contained a three-in-one red-and-black board, you know the kind. My dad taught me the game, and I was not very good, obviously. Later I learned that he wasn't very good either. I stopped playing the game for a while, until the Queen's Gambit came out, and I decided to pick it back up then. I've been playing ever since.

I first played Chess when I was around 7 years old but only started to play it really with 13 years.

I tried chess at age 7, but failed after 2 weeks. I tried again at age 10, and it stuck. I have been playing for two years, plus the two weeks from when I had my first attempt.
